Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago, IL is seeking a Electrical Engineer focused on power systems to contribute to design of electrical power plant and industrial systems. The role involves collaboration with project teams to develop designs, specifications, and drawings for existing plants and new installations.

You will prepare single line diagrams, relay/metering schematics, perform voltage drop and arc flash calculations, and coordinate with vendors.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering required, power systems emphasis preferred.
• Familiarity with electrical design including MV/LV distribution and equipment selection.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Based in Chicago, IL with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Work under project lead on electrical power plant and industrial plant systems.
• Prepare single line, relay, metering, and schematic diagrams.
• Prepare calculations including voltage drop, arc flash, and relay settings.
• Interface with vendors to prepare bills of material and purchase specifications.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and site verification; support hybrid work schedule (in-office 3 days per week).
