Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Clayton, MO is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join a project team delivering power, industrial, and renewable energy projects. You will design and modify electrical systems, prepare specifications, and support procurement and construction activities in a hybrid office setting.

You will also lead engineering tasks, perform detailed power system calculations, and collaborate with clients and vendors to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET‑accredited program; power systems emphasis preferred.
• PE license or ability to obtain one.
• 8+ years of experience in power/industrial plant design with detailed system design.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, control philosophies, and preparing calculations/specifications.
• Experience with medium/low voltage distribution, analytical calculations.
• Experience with ETAP and/or SKM calculations.
• Firm/client liaison and lead engineering responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel; based in Clayton, MO with hybrid work.

Responsibilities

• Work in a project team to design, modify, and analyze electrical systems for power, industrial, and renewable energy projects.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment and installation services.
• Support project managers to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specs, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare and review single‑line diagrams, relay/metering diagrams, cable blocks, and schematic drawings; assist with 3‑D modeling.
• Prepare detailed calculations including power studies, voltage drop, relay settings, and arc flash calculations.
• Interface with vendors to prepare BOMs and equipment specs.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly and meeting client requirements.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to peer learning.
• Travel to client and vendor locations for design reviews and site verification.
