Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Jr. Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to monitor enterprise security tooling, triage alerts, and assist with containment in a federal IT environment.

You will gather evidence, document investigations, and support continuous tuning of detection rules and dashboards to improve threat visibility. Must have relevant degree or equivalent, and security clearance or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT or cybersecurity.
• 0–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, or related technical roles.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts, attack techniques, and SOC role in detection/response.
• Hands-on familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, or vulnerability scanners.
• Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required to support federal information security requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM and security tooling to identify suspicious patterns.
• Perform Tier 1 alert triage by validating context, severity, and escalation readiness.
• Assist with incident response activities: evidence gathering and containment support.
• Document investigations with timelines, data sources, actions, and handoffs.
• Maintain familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
• Follow SOC procedures, playbooks, and reporting formats; contribute to improvements.
• Support tuning of rules, use cases, and dashboards to reduce noise.
• Collaborate with IT, operations, and risk teams to align with policies and priorities.
