Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Entry-Level Engineer (Finance) to support project teams. You will report to a Project Manager or Superintendent and assist in coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities include cost tracking, change order management, contract documentation, and schedule implementation to ensure quality and on-time completion. Strong communication and basic engineering knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline or Construction Management
• Knowledge of engineering principles
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints and drawings
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Experience with construction projects, mechanical/electrical systems or working with trades

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors.
• Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to control project budget.
• Resolve and clarify design issues.
• Identify and resolve field issues and change orders.
• Write contracts and purchase orders documenting all ordered work, schedules, costs and specs.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules for all tasks to completion.
• Document the technical, financial and personnel aspects of each project.
• Review project drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders.
• Review each trade's progress relative to project phase.
• Provide field support to ensure contract compliance and quality control.
• Track project phase completion against milestones.
• Set expectations for maintaining a safe work site.
• Document each phase of the project.
