Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Entry-Level Engineer to support project management on construction sites. Reporting to a Project Manager or Superintendent, you will coordinate with owner representatives, architects, engineers and subcontractors, and assist with budgets and cost tracking to keep projects on track.

You will help resolve design issues, document changes, and review drawings and specifications while ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion of project milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management.
• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Knowledge of basic business principles sufficient to project and monitor expenses.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals and drawings.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Experience with construction projects, mechanical/electrical systems, building materials, and working with craft workers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Assist in estimating and budgeting processes and tracking costs.
• Resolve design issues and clarify field questions and change orders.
• Write contracts and purchase orders using boilerplate language.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules and track milestones.
• Document project phases and technical, financial, and personnel aspects.
