Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an entry-level engineer with a finance focus to support Detroit project teams, reporting to a project manager and/or superintendent. You will coordinate with owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors, help track costs, review drawings and change orders, and document project progress while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management.
• Knowledge of engineering principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors.
• Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to manage project budget.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders.
• Provide field support to construction superintendents to help ensure contract compliance, quality control and maintenance of the site.
• Document the technical, financial and personnel aspects of each project.
• Review each trade's work progress with respect to each project phase.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules including each task associated with project completion.
• Track project phase completion against milestones.
• Set expectations for managing a safe work site.
