Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an entry-level Engineer to support multiple construction projects in Detroit. Reporting to a project manager or superintendent, you will assist in coordinating with owners, architects and subcontractors while helping manage budgets and schedules.

You will develop knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and construction processes, and gain hands-on experience reading drawings, specifications, and change orders as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, engineering technology or construction management.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with scheduling software and project coordination processes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors.
• Assist in estimating, bidding processes, and tracking costs to manage the project budget.
• Resolve and clarify design issues and field issues, including change orders.
• Draft contracts and purchase orders using company boilerplate language for documentation.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Support project schedules and document project phases, costs, and changes.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders.
