Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Junior IT Configuration Analyst to support CMDB accuracy across enterprise infrastructure and applications. The role focuses on collecting, validating, and updating CI records to reflect the environment’s current state for operational and governance needs.

Working under senior staff, you will assist with data quality checks, configuration audits, and impact analysis to support incident, change, and problem management in a regulated federal IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0–3 years of IT operations or configuration management experience.
• Foundational ITIL understanding of service asset and configuration management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate CI records in the CMDB by collecting and updating data for infrastructure, applications, and services.
• Perform CMDB maintenance: create/update CIs, reconcile discovery data, resolve data conflicts.
• Assist with configuration audits and certifications by documenting discrepancies and coordinating remediation.
• Use ITSM/CMDB tools to navigate CI structures, run queries and reports, and support impact analysis.
• Review change records and incidents to ensure CIs are correctly linked for traceability.
• Contribute to CMDB data quality by monitoring completeness and accuracy and implementing corrective actions.
• Follow configuration governance practices to protect CMDB integrity and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with ITIL process owners to support stable and efficient enterprise IT services.
