Job summary

ASM Research seeks an IT Configuration Analyst, Junior to support CMDB accuracy across enterprise infrastructure and applications. Focus areas include data collection, validation, and updating CI records to reflect current state for operations and governance.

Under guidance from senior configuration and service management staff, you will assist with audits, data quality checks, and analysis that enable effective incident, change, and problem management in a federal IT environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, business or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of IT operations, service management, asset management, or configuration management.
• Foundational ITIL understanding of service asset and configuration management concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with ITSM or CMDB tools to maintain records.
• Current secret security clearance or higher.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate CI records in the CMDB by collecting, verifying, and updating data for infrastructure, applications, and services.
• Perform CMDB maintenance: create/update CIs, reconcile discovery data, resolve data conflicts.
• Assist with configuration audits and certifications by comparing CMDB records to inventories and coordinating remediation.
• Use ITSM and CMDB tools to navigate CI structures, run queries, and support impact analysis for incidents, changes, and problems.
• Review change records and incident tickets to ensure CIs are correctly linked for traceability.
• Contribute to CMDB data quality by monitoring completeness and correctness and supporting corrective actions.
• Follow configuration governance practices: naming standards, data entry guidelines, access controls.
• Collaborate with ITIL process owners to ensure data supports stable, efficient IT services in a regulated environment.
