Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an experienced estimator to develop accurate and timely estimates for private and public sector projects. You will analyze drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and collaborate with field operations and senior estimators to improve bid competitiveness.

The role requires 2+ years in engineering or take-off, a related bachelor’s degree, and proficiency with MS Office, AGTEK Take-off, and Primavera.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.
• 2+ years of Engineer or Take-Off Technician experience.
• Proficiency with MS Office, AGTEK Take-off and Primavera Scheduling software.
• Basic understanding of Estimating software.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of agency (U)DBE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Comprehend and administer a safety program that meets Granite’s Annual Incident Goal.
• Create and promote environmental policy compliance and mitigation.
• Create and foster a quality culture focused on customer pride and satisfaction.
• Analyze estimate data affecting labor, materials, equipment and location to ensure quality estimates.
• Review drawings, specifications and site conditions; solicit field input for final estimates.
• Discuss alternative solutions with field supervision and Senior/Chief Estimator to improve bid competitiveness.
• Perform accurate quantity take-offs to ensure data accuracy.
• Utilize cost history as a check in estimates.
• Present estimate/bid for review to Senior/Chief Estimator.
• Participate in bid reviews to develop estimating skills and communicate with owners/subcontractors.
