Job summary

Newrez is seeking a Bankruptcy Case Manager I to organize and monitor bankruptcy accounts, perform research, file proofs of claim, and ensure accurate post-petition payment tracking. The role collaborates with litigation and loss mitigation teams to support recovery within bankruptcy plans.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or equivalent, up to two years of related experience, and a background in bankruptcy or legal work is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; 0–2 years of related experience.
• Background in bankruptcy helpful but not required.
• Legal background would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive, update and review bankruptcy information daily.
• Research accounts using PACER, AIS, trustee sites and other systems.
• Prepare and file Proofs of Claim and Transfers of Claim with bankruptcy courts by deadline.
• Ensure post-petition payment tracking is set up correctly in the ILS system.
• Document bankruptcy correspondence pertaining to the collateral.
• Monitor accounts for payments per the bankruptcy plan (trustee and post-petition).
• Contact trustee or debtor's attorney to facilitate payments.
• Identify issues that qualify for legal action (plan objections, claim objections, motions).
• Coordinate with Bankruptcy Litigation, Foreclosure and Loss Mitigation teams.
• Perform discharge reviews for lien release requirements and adjustments.
• Assist on special projects and related duties.
