Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) for the Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury, NC. The role involves maintenance of facility systems, electrical work at journeyman level, and supervision of diverse trades within a prison environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with two years of progressive trade experience and a valid driver's license. EPA certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, plus 2 years of progressive trade experience.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification may be required as per regulations.
• Valid driver's license upon hire and ability to supervise laborers.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings.
• Work at the journeyman level in electrical.
• Work at the journeyman level in at least one additional trade (HVAC, plumbing, or carpentry).
• Repair commercial kitchen equipment.
• Make minor interior and exterior building repairs.
• Assist with repairs to HVAC and plumbing systems when needed.
• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laborers.
• Maintain systems in a safe and efficient manner.
