UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Illinois is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to anticipate surgeon needs, manage supplies, and uphold sterile technique during procedures. You will coordinate with the circulating nurse and other team members to ensure efficient operating room turnover.

Responsibilities include maintaining high standards, adhering to regulatory requirements, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in English and able to read/write clearly.
• Basic aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Knowledge of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Understanding surgeon instructions and directions.
• Computer skills and MS Office.
• Clear communication, anticipation, and attention to detail.
• Mechanical assembly knowledge and anatomy basics.
• Ability to work with multiple team members.
• Flexible schedule and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards and quality in cost savings and containment.
• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.
• Supports customer and employee satisfaction; maintains good relationships and responds to complaints promptly.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects breaks in technique.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures adherence to regulatory standards.
• Supervises staff in the surgical environment and assists with orientation and training.
• Promotes a safe environment and acts in emergencies to control hazards.
• Follows infection control policies and PPE usage.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports quality standards.
• Provides assistance to the surgical team as needed.
• Aids in OR turnover times and directs ancillary personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
