Job summary

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in the greater Chicagoland area is seeking a Surgical Technician for the Surgery department. The role is 100% onsite, focusing on maintaining the sterile field and ensuring aseptic technique throughout procedures.

Under supervision of the Supervisor and Director of Surgical Services, you will support intraoperative care, pass instruments, position patients, and prepare the room for each case, while upholding infection control standards and teamwork

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
Completion of Surgical Technologist Program.
Certification as CST from NBSTSA within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Compassionately provide personal patient care and comfort to the surgical patient.
Anticipate the needs of surgeons, passing instruments and providing sterile items efficiently.
Assist by holding instruments as directed by the physician.
Prepare the procedure room and check non-sterile equipment for proper function.
Assist in positioning patients for procedures.
Post-op cleanup of the room and disposal of contaminated materials per protocol.
Provide equipment and supplies based on patient and procedure needs.
Adhere to Infection Control principles.
