Job summary

Socket.dev in Washington, DC seeks a DevOps Engineer (Jira Platform Engineer) to own Jira SaaS for our government cloud. You will administer, configure, and integrate Jira within our enterprise tech ecosystem, driving Agile practices across teams and migrating from on-prem tools to Jira AGC SaaS.

The role emphasizes secure, automated integrations with ServiceNow, GitLab, and Okta, plus governance, license monitoring, and cross-system collaboration for planning and release cycles.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Three (3+) years of hands-on experience administering and/or engineering Jira (Self-hosting or SaaS).
• Proven experience developing custom integrations with enterprise platforms, especially GitLab and ServiceNow.
• Hands-on experience with mailbox migrations and hybrid deployments.
• At least four (4) years of experience in DevOps Engineering.
• At least two (2) years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• At least two (2) years of Unix or Linux system administration experience.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript) and REST API integration.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps principles.
• Experience in enterprise migrations from Azure DevOps or similar tools to Jira.

Responsibilities

• Administering, configuring, and integrating the Jira SaaS for government cloud within our enterprise technology ecosystem.
• Consolidating our collaborative planning tool by transitioning from on-prem to Jira Atlassian Government Cloud SaaS for government.
• Building automated, secure integrations between Jira SaaS for Government and core enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow, GitLab).
• Design, implement, and maintain seamless integrations between Jira and other enterprise systems using Okta, REST APIs, webhooks, middleware.
• Automate data synchronization across platforms to support traceability from planning to release and optimize pipelines.
• Partner with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to align integrations with enterprise security and compliance standards.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to teams on Jira configurations and usage patterns.
