Everforth Apex is seeking a Java Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy software in a federal program, operating in a SAFe Agile environment. The role requires a strong technical background and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for a Public Trust clearance; remote work is offered. This position supports a DoD-related program with modern Java tech, containers, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on Java backend.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, microservices, ActiveMQ, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Experience with service-to-service communication (REST and messaging with ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, SQS).
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD tools (Jenkins).
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
• Test automation with Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Bash, Linux, AWS services and Terraform.
• Experience with monitoring tools (JMeter, Grafana, Splunk, DataDog, CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of data analytics tools (AWS QuickSight, Elasticsearch).
• Experience with SAFe/Scrum and Jira/Confluence.

Responsibilities

Java Software Engineer

Location: Remote

Role Overview

The Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications. This role requires a technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a SAFe Agile environment. The Software Engineer will play a role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of software solutions. This role supports a federal program that requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
• Participate in all phases of the Agile development lifecycle, including planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, conduct code reviews, and write unit tests.
• Work with product owners, Scrum Masters, and DevSecOps engineers to deliver software solutions.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Java & a focus on backend tools & technologies.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, microservices architecture, the ActiveMQ message broker, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Experience developing and managing service-to-service communication patterns using synchronous (REST) and asynchronous messaging frameworks such as ActiveMQ, Amazon MQ, and SQS.
• Experience with version control systems (GitHub) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins).
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and data modeling.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Bash scripting, Linux, AWS services (Amazon MQ, SQS, S3, EC2, EKS, RDS, CloudWatch), and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
• Experience with system monitoring tools (Apache JMeter, Grafana, Splunk, DataDog, CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of data analytics tools (AWS QuickSight, Elasticsearch).
• Experience with agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe Agile Certification.
• Experience in healthcare IT and understanding of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA.
• Experience and/or knowledge of CMS processes and standards.
• Experience in developing responsive, dynamic, and interactive user interfaces using Angular and React frameworks.
• Experience in converting UI/UX wireframes and prototypes into functional applications.
