Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems seeks a Java Developer in Newark, Delaware (Hybrid) to deliver complex software solutions. As an individual contributor, you will code, test, and integrate components while aligning with functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.

The role covers building RESTful services, working with SOAP/XML/JSON, and utilizing Spring MVC/Spring Framework in a high-volume environment. Collaboration with frontend tech and CI/CD practices is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience with high-volume applications and server-side frameworks (Spring MVC).
  • Experience with Spring Framework including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring Data JPA.
  • Understanding of SOAP web services with XML and JSON; experience building RESTful services.

Responsibilities

  • Code solutions and unit tests; ensure interfaces are robust and well-tested.
  • Meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements in software development.
  • Contribute to story refinement and requirements definition.
  • Assist in estimating work necessary to deliver stories.
  • Perform POC work to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components across data, application, and business layers.
  • Help resolve technical complexities in story realization.
  • Contribute to and analyze test suites; triage test issues and communicate deployment readiness.
  • Document information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.

Java Developer

Location: Newark, Delaware (Hybrid)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Java Developer to act as an individual contributor responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. This role ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. The position involves coding solutions, creating unit tests, and ensuring successful integration into the overall application and system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Code solutions, unit tests, and ensure the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces.
  • Ensure software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to story refinement and defining requirements.
  • Participate in and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story or requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform proof of concept work as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in the design and development of client requirements.
  • Assist the team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
  • Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause.
  • Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working on high-volume applications and with server-side frameworks like Spring MVC.
  • Experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, and Spring Data JPA.
  • Understanding of SOAP web services with XML and JSON.
  • Experience building restful web services.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as Handlebars, Vue, and ReactJS.
  • Familiarity with XML and JSON binding libraries (JAXB, Jackson, Gson).
  • Experience with unit tests using JUnit.
  • Proficiency with GIT, Maven, Artifactory, and an IDE such as Eclipse.
  • Experience with GIT distributed version control, branching/merge strategies, and Bitbucket.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Knowledge of MQ (Websphere MQ or ActiveMQ) and experience in performance tuning with an understanding of JVM internals.
  • Experience with Groovy, object-oriented programming, and distributed system development using Java/J2EE.
  • Familiarity with Java design patterns, defensive programming, and application security.
  • Experience working with GitHub Copilot or other coding agents/LLMs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technology solutions to diverse technical, business, and management teams.
  • Interpersonal communication skills for technical and business conversations.
  • Analytical skills to break down requirements and solve problems.
