Job summary

ZEISS is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer for a unique three-year international assignment based in Japan, with eventual transition to a long-term U.S.-based role in the Boise, Idaho area. You will install, service, and maintain ZEISS semiconductor systems, traveling internationally for training and collaborating with global teams.

Fluency in Japanese and strong English are required, along with a technical background in optics or mechatronics, and experience in semiconductors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred, or 5 years in optics/mechatronics.
Customer-focused with flexible service hours.
Ability to read electrical/mechanical engineering docs and schematics.
Technical experience in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and service ZEISS 3D Tomography Inspection & Metrology and Mask Shop Solutions systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and execute complex repairs.
Serve as primary on-site contact for the customer in Japan.
Coordinate service activities and report equipment status to customers and ZEISS teams.
Manage spare parts inventory, ordering and returns.
Document all service activities and quality updates.
Support installation and service needs with teams in Germany and the U.S.
Contribute to process improvements and train local teams in Japan.
Act as liaison across Japan, Germany, and U.S. teams.
