Essential Functions / Responsibilities

• Sweeping, vacuums, mopping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors using industrial equipment and buffing machines.
• Using ladders to dust and wash walls, ceilings and light fixtures; washing and replacing blinds.
• Moving cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Removing stains from rugs, drapes, walls and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Performing seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways, raking leaves, cutting grass and removing snow.
• Emptying waste baskets and replacing liners in carpeted, lunchroom/break areas, restrooms and non‑carpeted areas.
• Dusting and cleaning tops of office furniture; vacuuming all carpeting; spot‑cleaning soiled areas.
• Cleaning glass on lobby doors; sweeping and mopping tile and finished floors.
• Sanitizing toilets, basins, urinals; mopping floors with disinfectant.
• Refilling restroom dispensers; cleaning and polishing wood furniture and interior glass partitions.
• Dusting overhead vents, blinds, high partitions and ledges.
• Maintaining janitor's closet neat and orderly; properly maintaining equipment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic janitorial duties and responsibilities knowledge.
• Good listening and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to speak/understand English (some positions).
• Ability to attend periodic training and safety meetings.
• Ability to understand and anticipate client needs.
• Neat appearance and uniform compliance at some worksites.
• Punctuality.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• 6 months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.

• Small-to-large office environments.
• Fast paced work environment.
• Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and moderate noise.
• Safety glasses required for certain tasks.
• Safety class performed by Flagship.
• Physical environment includes shop environments.

Physical Demands

• Standing, walking, sitting for long periods; occasional lifting up to 40–50 pounds.
• Repetitive movements: reach, kneel, crouch, walk long distances.
• Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception.
