Job summary

Flagship Facility Services, Inc. is seeking a janitorial staff member to maintain cleanliness across client sites. You will perform floor care, wall cleaning, restroom sanitation, and daily housekeeping tasks to ensure a sanitary, orderly environment.

Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential. The role may require lifting up to 40–50 pounds and adherence to safety guidelines and uniform requirements.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial cleaners and machines.
• Dusts and washes walls and ceilings; cleans light fixtures.
• Washes and replaces blinds.
• Moves furniture and equipment to clean areas.
• Removes stains from surfaces with cleaning solutions.
• Performs incidental seasonal tasks (snow removal, lawn care).
• Lifts 40–50 pounds of equipment or supplies.
• Applies and removes protective coatings as needed.
• Cleans carpeted areas and empties waste baskets; dusts furniture.
• Cleans glass on lobby doors and tile areas.
• Maintains lunchroom areas and cleans appliances.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies.
• Cleans non-carpeted areas and dusts desks and surfaces.
• Cleans overhead vents and dusts blinds and wood furniture.
• Maintains janitor’s closet neatly and orderly.
• Ensures equipment like vacuums is properly maintained.

Job Summary

It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements should be referred to as a guide, rather than a limitation to, the services required to maintain a building effectively. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by FlagShip.

Essential Functions

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners, scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Sometimes uses ladders to dust and wash walls, washes ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures.
• Washes and replaces blinds.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
• Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• May sweep walkways, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• May lift and/or move a minimum of 40 to 50 pounds of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders).
• Applies protection applications to walls, floors, and equipment and removes protective applications as necessary.
• Carpeted areas: empties waste baskets and replaces liners; dusts/cleans tops of office furniture, vacuums carpeting, and spot cleans soiled areas.
• Clean glass on lobby door; sweep and mop tile areas.
• Lunchroom/Break areas: empties waste baskets and replaces liners, wipes/cleans all tabletop and chairs, vending machines and appliances, sinks and counter areas; sweeps and mops tile floors.
• Restrooms: empties waste baskets and replaces liners; cleans and sanitizes toilets, basins, and urinals; sweeps and mops floors with disinfectant; spot cleans walls, partitions, and doors; refills all restroom dispensers.
• Non‑carpeted areas: empties waste baskets and replaces liners; sweeps, spot‑mops tile floors; completes damp mop tile floors; dusts/cleans desks, tables, and cleared surfaces.
• Periodically cleans overhead vents, dusts blinds, polishes wood furniture, dusts high partitions and ledges, and cleans interior partition glass.
• Maintains janitor’s closet neat and orderly.
• Ensures equipment such as vacuums is properly maintained at all times.

Knowledge and Skills

Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

6 months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.

Work Environment

Small‑to‑large office environment.

Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks.

Fast‑paced work environment. Safety class performed by Flagship.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments.

Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and noise.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must perform repetitive movements such as standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, talking or hearing. The employee must also be able to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time and lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds of office and facilities equipment. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
