Job summary

The University of New Mexico IT Networks Voice Team is seeking a responsible student employee to support telecommunications services, including voicemail, long-distance codes, and other voice-related services. This role offers hands-on IT operations experience within a large university environment while developing technical and customer service skills.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM and enrolled at least half-time (6 hours).
• If Work Study, must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
• Basic computer skills and experience using Windows.

Responsibilities

• Process Telecom-related tickets, including adding/removing voicemail boxes, long-distance codes, and other Telecom services.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and track IT/Telecom equipment.
• Coordinate delivery and pickup of IT/Telecom equipment across UNM Main Campus and UNM Hospital.
• Assist with the safe transport of IT/Telecom equipment between University locations, including loading/unloading.
• Provide professional, courteous communication with faculty, staff, students, and IT personnel during equipment deliveries and services.
• Support Voice Team with various technical, administrative, and operational tasks.
• Ensure in-office availability at least three days per week to support team operations.
• Complete required UNM training, including defensive driving, as necessary.
