Job summary

Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission seeks an IT/Telecom Support Supervisor to lead the NTS Section in the Information Management Division. You will manage helpdesk operations and provide expert support for a 250-user department-wide network, including servers, SAN, virtualization, and critical software tools.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent documentation, and collaboration with cybersecurity teams. Travel and occasional after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in information technology support functions.
• Driver’s license valid and unencumbered.
• Pass Commission medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all user support activities and operations.
• Oversee and support AV operations for Planning Board meetings and other events.
• Maintain a complete inventory of IT assets.
• Supervise 5-6 IT Telecom Support Specialists and perform supervisory duties.
• Plan and deploy network upgrades, wireless improvements, and security enhancements.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on access policies and cloud security.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VPNs, cloud platforms, and mobile endpoints.
• Configure and troubleshoot cloud networking platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Support Office 365, Teams, GIS software, and other tools.
• Maintain physical network infrastructure and cable management.
• Engage with vendors for cost estimates and material procurement.
• Manage budgets and participate in division budget planning.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and document procedures.
