Job summary

County of Otero in New Mexico seeks an IT Systems Administrator to maintain and secure County computer systems, perform data entry, and support end users. The role requires knowledge of Windows systems, networking, and Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities include installing hardware/software, managing mainframe/networked systems, cabling, and coordinating with various County departments. Travel to facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of policies and procedures for State and County computer requirements.
• Knowledge of computer hardware components and their replacements.
• Familiarity with Windows configuration, deployment and administration.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and Office suite.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and structured cabling practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on County computers and networks.
• Maintains security precautions to protect systems.
• Installs, configures, and upgrades hardware and software on County systems.
• Maintains familiarity with County mainframe and NM networked systems for compatibility and security.
• Performs data entry and maintains records of system usage and maintenance.
• Educates end users about network security and best practices.
• Coordinates with staff and travels to County facilities as needed.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs network cabling, switches and routers.
