Job summary

John H Carter Company in Baton Rouge, LA seeks an IT Support Technician to join our operations team. You will manage backups, both system and database, support on-premises and cloud-based email in a hybrid setup, and maintain both virtual and physical environments.

You will install and support antivirus, ticketing systems, configure networks (WAN/LAN/WIFI), VPNs, firewalls, and ensure UPS capacity for branch offices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or better required.
• Preferred Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years as IT Support Technician.
• Experience with DNS, DHCP, AD, IIS, MS Exchange, TCP/IP, Sharepoint.

Responsibilities

• Create and restore system backups and database backups.
• Support on-premises and online email systems in a hybrid environment.
• Maintain and support both virtual and physical environments.
• Install, maintain and support antivirus, trouble call ticketing system and error reporting systems.
• Maintain and monitor Tier 2 Data Center and remote office equipment.
• Telephone system support, scripting and troubleshooting.
• Schedule, patches, upgrades, firmware updates for IT equipment.
• Design, configure, and install new servers (Physical & Virtual) and software components.
• Design, configure and install WAN, LAN, WIFI, Site-to-site VPNs and firewalls.
• Configure UPS for branch offices and server room; troubleshoot battery issues.
• Provide recommendations for remote office equipment and network configurations.
• Document IT processes and create/update IT department policies and procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for IT supported software and equipment.
• Ensure the IT department operates per procedures; attend as required; occasional after hours.
