Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking an IT Systems Engineer II on the IT Infrastructure team to build, support, and scale internal systems, handle requests, and triage escalations. You will work with engineers, PMs, and leaders to implement and maintain infrastructure, SaaS platforms, and security controls.

The role requires strong experience with Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, Slack, and cloud-based integrations, plus IaC with Terraform or GitOps, and a bias for automations and AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT systems engineering in a distributed, enterprise IT environment.
• Proven experience administering core platforms like Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, GitHub, Claude, and Slack.
• Experience with IaC using Terraform or GitOps.
• AI-enabled tooling to aid colleagues and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary systems administrator for Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, Slack, Claude, GitHub, and other key tools and partner with IT and other teams to implement and maintain integrations with other platforms / tools.
• Serve as an escalation point for our IT Support team, troubleshooting complex technical problems, documenting processes as needed.
• Triage and handle inbound IT Infrastructure requests from the business, including scoping requirements to implement SSO and other integrations, configuration of SaaS tools, and leveraging automation to solve inefficient business processes.
• Collaborate with and enable cross-functional teams across the business to improve efficiency via systems design and automation, and AI tools.
• Manage data, security, and legal governance processes and maintain compliance with security standards (least-privilege access, patching, two-factor authentication, VPN).
• Proactively monitor systems health, identify, troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues, and participate in on-call rotation for critical components & changes (change/incident management).
• Drive and contribute to technology projects with a focus on delivering business value.
