Job summary

State of Alaska is seeking an IT System Administrator 1 in Juneau to join the DFCS-IT/NS team. The role emphasizes competency-based qualifications, AD administration, and network support across Alaska sites.

The incumbent will travel within the state as needed to resolve on‑premises issues and support remote locations. You will work on task automation with PowerShell, deploy GPOs, and participate in datacenter activities while collaborating with diverse teams to maintain secure and reliable

Qualifications

• Hardware knowledge: computer hardware specs, uses and types.
• Infrastructure design: LAN/WAN, networks, hardware, protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support for on-site file and print servers and address issues; travel to remote sites as needed.
• Perform core Active Directory tasks including account maintenance and group membership updates; use PowerShell to automate tasks.
• Author, test and deploy Group Policy Objects to ensure secure configurations across the environment.
• Assist with entry-level datacenter tasks such as server provisioning, hardware handling, system monitoring, and scripted PowerShell tasks.
• Support WAN operations by planning, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Ethernet and Wi‑Fi infrastructure at remote sites.
