Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide end-user support for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (CLAHS). This role covers Windows and macOS setup, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support for faculty and staff via ServiceNow, email, phone, and remote assistance.

You will troubleshoot hardware, software, printers, scanners, and other peripherals, document solutions, create user guides, assist with equipment audits and surplus processes, and communicate

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems
• Experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software
• Knowledge of endpoint management frameworks (BigFix, Jamf, Intune)
• Ability to interface with end users
• Strong interpersonal, customer support, verbal and technical writing skills

Responsibilities

• Provide IT support for CLAHS, including setup, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of Windows and MacOS computers.
• Respond to service requests via ServiceNow, email, phone, and remote support.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, printers, scanners, and peripherals; resolve connectivity and internet issues.
• Maintain detailed documentation; create user guides; assist with equipment audits and surplus processes.
