Job summary

Travis County is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide on-site and remote desktop support, handling first- and second-level issues to keep user environments productive.

You will install software, manage profiles, troubleshoot networking problems, and assist with new technologies. A related bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience are expected, with a Texas driver’s license preferred. Office hours are 8am–5pm at the Austin location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and two years of relevant work experience.
• Or, any combination of education and experience equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), A+ Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provides remote and on-site first- and second-level desktop support.
• Logs calls, provides technical assistance to users and IT staff, documents resolution.
• Creates, resets and deletes user profiles and assists with login problems.
• Installs, configures and deploys software; upgrades desktop hardware and printers.
• Communicates outages to staff and monitors progress toward resolution.
• Supports varied client technologies across platforms and aids in determining requirements.
• Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostics on computers and peripherals.
• Participates in special projects and relocations of IT equipment and offices.
