Job summary

The Boston Public Schools Office of Technology is offering a paid IT Support Internship for participants in the Catholic Charities Boston – El Centro IT Program. You will gain hands-on experience supporting devices, software, and services used by students and staff.

Under supervision, interns deploy, image, configure, and troubleshoot desktop and mobile equipment, while developing customer service skills and enterprise IT awareness in a large urban school district.

Qualifications

• Must be currently participating in the Catholic Charities Boston – El Centro IT Program.
• Interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Basic familiarity with Windows and/or macOS.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Effective problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• English proficiency appropriate for a professional work environment.
• Ability to lift and move technology equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, with reasonable accommodation provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deployment, setup, maintenance, and replacement of desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other technology equipment.
• Image, configure, and prepare devices for deployment to schools and administrative offices.
• Install operating systems, software applications, updates, and security patches.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of hardware, software, printers, peripherals, and connectivity issues.
• Provide professional, customer-focused technical support to Boston Public Schools staff.
• Assist with inventory management, asset tracking, and equipment organization.
• Learn and utilize enterprise device management and support tools.
• Research technical issues and assist with identifying solutions.
• Participate in technology projects and special assignments as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
