Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking an IT Specialist II to provide front-line support and training for end-users. The role involves repairing and supporting City-owned computer systems, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, in alignment with IT policies and security standards.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4–5 years of customer service and technical experience. Occasional after-hours work may be required and compensated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• 4–5 years full-time experience in a role with strong customer service and technical capabilities.
• Additional related experience and/or current technical certifications may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and OEM guides.
• Effective interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and handle high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts advanced technical work and analysis of end user devices in a centralized IT operation and assists in configuration and installation of hardware and software.
• Manages and maintains desktop, laptop, and mobile device inventory and warranty repairs.
• Records trouble tickets, tracks work in IT systems, and maintains SLAs for service and support.
• Identifies problems and defines solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Provides system-wide updates and security enhancements as per IT strategy.
• Deploys and supports workstations, printers, projectors, and other peripherals and software.
• Provides user training on network workstations and PC software.
