Job summary

Thurston County is seeking an IT Supervisor to lead the Network Team within the Information Technology Department. The role focuses on planning, organizing, and managing network infrastructure, security, and data communications across county offices.

The incumbent will supervise staff, develop budgets, and coordinate major hardware and software upgrades, ensuring reliable services and alignment with county goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, business administration, GIS or related field.
• Five years of progressive responsibility with at least two years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations to meet goals within budget and staffing.
• Plan workload and staff assignments; adjust priorities as needed.
• Develop procedures and performance standards; train and evaluate staff.
• Prepare and justify budgets based on resource needs and objectives.
• Ensure system security, access controls, and recovery procedures.
• Oversee hardware/software planning, installation, and upgrades.
• Provide technical guidance to IT staff and departments.
• Coordinate large-scale infrastructure installs, migrations, and relocations.
