Job summary

Thurston County is seeking an IT Supervisor in Olympia, WA, leading a nine-member Network Team. The role drives installation, maintenance, and operation of county networks, ensuring reliable, secure IT services for all county offices.

Essential duties include staffing, budgeting, vendor coordination, and strategic IT planning. The incumbent liaises with leadership to align IT with business needs and fosters staff development. Hybrid work may be possible after probation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, GIS or related field and five years of progressive responsibility with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of programming languages, database products, and integration techniques on multiple computing platforms.
• Current Washington State Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
• Employment contingent on successful security background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage the Network Team's workloads and staff assignments.
• Develop and administer budgets for assigned operations and evaluate cost/benefit of hardware/software changes.
• Provide technical guidance on systems, software, hardware, and data communication across departments.
