Job summary

The Boise Independent School District is seeking an Information Technology Intern to support district staff and students with hardware and software maintenance and troubleshooting.

The role requires enrollment in a postsecondary technical program, a love of technology, and a willingness to learn and help others. Candidates should be comfortable working in teams and independently, and able to follow directions. Travel between district locations may be required; mileage is reimbursed.

  • Communicate effectively with fellow IT team members, as well as customers, in person, via email, Help Desk ticketing system, and phone.
  • Organize and maintain IT resources.
  • Must have reliable transportation, as travel between multiple district locations during any given shift may be necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel between work sites.

New-to-District Classified employees may be eligible to receive credit for up to two years' worth of credit for movement (steps) on the Classified Salary Schedule based on relevant prior work expe r ience .Please complete the top portion of this form and provide it to your previous employer for completion. To qualify, newly hired employees must provide this form, completed by your former employer(s), to Human Resources no later than the date of their fingerprinting and appointment.

*Transferring employees or former District employees hired into this role will be placed on the "C" letter grade of the Classified Salary Schedule, but the initial step placement will vary based on a variety of factors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current or planned enrollment in post secondary technical education training or degree program.
  • Love of technology.

Knowledge of

  • Common personal computing platforms, including Windows and MacOS, or eagerness to learn.
  • Basic computer hardware components and their replacement and repair, or eagerness to learn.

Ability to

  • Follow given directions diligently.
  • Work well in teams and independently.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Work the hours he/she commits to working. Work schedules are flexible to support Intern's educational pursuits.

The primary function of the Information Technology Intern is to provide support to the Information Technology team in their mission to provide and support technology for district staff and students. This includes routine hardware and software maintenance tasks, as well as technical troubleshooting, both onsite and remotely.
