Job summary

Custom Computer Specialists in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Technician to assist with installation and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure, including network equipment and security systems. You will work with engineers, travel across the five boroughs, and report to Long Island HQ.

The role offers hands-on experience with networking, infrastructure technologies, and professional growth. Schedule varies; typical shift 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with possible changes during school breaks; strong

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Networking, or related work experience.
1–2 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure and networking equipment.
Basic TCP/IP, switching, wireless networking, and cabling knowledge.
Familiarity with Windows operating systems and computer hardware.
Experience using hand and power tools for installation and cable management.
Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Assist Systems Engineers with installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise network infrastructure.
Rack, mount, cable, and organize equipment in IDFs, MDFs, and data centers with cable management.
Assist with infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, and enterprise deployment projects.
Perform firmware updates and hardware replacement activities under engineering supervision.
Assist with network testing, connectivity verification, and basic troubleshooting.
Maintain documentation: inventories, installation records, rack elevations, cable schedules.
Follow engineering standards, safety procedures and change management processes.
Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, vendors and contractors to complete projects.
Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team.
