Job summary

The Information Technology Intern will support the IT Department and Jobsite Operations teams by providing hands‑on technical support to users across J. Benton Construction.

This role will function as a Helpdesk Technician while gaining exposure to IT operations in a fast‑paced construction environment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware and software, assisting with Autopilot provisioning, and visiting office and job sites to deliver IT support across USVI locations.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computing Systems, Computer Systems Analysis, or related field.
• Previous work experience required; prior IT experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, IT infrastructure, and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and IT ticketing systems preferred.
• Commitment to confidentiality and IT security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Helpdesk Technician, supporting users with technical issues and IT requests.
• After onboarding, manage approximately 5–10% of weekly IT tickets, with appropriate escalation as needed.
• Provide responsive, professional customer service and technical support.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Assist with hardware/software setup, maintenance, and Autopilot device provisioning.
• Visit office and jobsite locations to provide IT support and gain field experience.
• Assist with IT equipment inventory across USVI locations.
• Document issues and resolutions and support IT security and operational processes.
• Develop the ability to independently troubleshoot, provision devices, manage tickets, and elevate incidents by the end of the internship.
