The Durango Public Library is a hub for learning, connection, resources, and new ideas. As the IT Help Desk Technician based in the library, you’ll be a primary technology resource for both library staff and community members, supporting public computers, staff devices, meeting room technology, and library systems. In this role, you’ll connect technical systems with everyday user needs. Whether you’re setting up equipment, troubleshooting software, maintaining security cameras, or helping someone access digital library resources on their personal device, your work will support access to information and technology throughout our community.
The starting pay for this position is $49,913 per year, with opportunities for growth up to $69,878 per year based on long-term growth and performance within the role.
What You’ll Do In This Role
- Provide in-person and remote technology support to library staff and community members.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade computers, laptops, tablets, printers, software, and other equipment.
- Manage support requests and maintain records of technology repairs, updates, inventory, and system changes.
- Support library technology, including public computers, meeting room equipment, self-check stations, automated return system, security cameras, and the integrated library system.
- Help community members use computers, mobile devices, email, internet resources, library databases, digital materials, mobile printing, and other technology.
- Maintain public computer software, security tools, system images, and updates.
- Coordinate technology needs with the City’s Information Technology (IT) team, working together on technology needs, system support, and related projects.
- Train library staff and community members on technology, software, and digital tools, including technology orientation for new employees.
- Research technology needs, recommend improvements, and maintain technical instructions and system information.
- Maintain library webpages, online catalog pages, and the Durango Public Library mobile app.
- Assist with meeting room technology and occasional circulation, reference, and other library operations.
You Have
- An associate degree or equivalent training from an accredited vocational school, college, or university with coursework in computer science, information systems, electronics, telecommunications, or a related field.
- Two years of experience supporting desktop, laptop, and tablet systems.
- A CompTIA A+ certification is preferred.
- Experience with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other remote desktop support tools is preferred.
