Marina Coast Water District is seeking a dependable Information Technology Support Specialist (Student Intern) to gain hands-on experience in IT and GIS. You will work with the IT Administrator and GIS Technician on a structured development plan, starting with guided learning and progressing to real project work.

The internship emphasizes Windows administration, network basics, Microsoft 365, and customer service, with on-site support at Marina, CA.

Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled as a full-time college student in an information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, networking, GIS, business information systems, or related program.
• Available to work 16 hours per week.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and travel between offices.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with technical support requests and IT and GIS projects.
• Troubleshoot computers, software, printers, and network connections.
• Set up and maintain desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and other equipment.
• Install and update Windows applications and approved software.
• Assist with wired and wireless network troubleshooting.
• Support endpoint security, backups, and software updates.
• Maintain IT inventory, records, and documentation.
• Assist employees with Microsoft 365 and District software.
• Research hardware, software, and technology solutions.
• Assist with equipment replacements and upgrades.
• Coordinate with technology vendors as needed.
• Assist GIS Technician with mapping and GIS data tasks.
