Job summary

Haywood Community College in North Carolina is seeking an IT Field Technician I to support daily IT operations and provide Tier 1 help desk support for the college's technology environment, including IT systems, infrastructure, audiovisual technologies, and auditorium operations.

Qualifications

• AAS IT degree or equivalent work experience in IT operations.
• Preferred certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 help desk support by answering calls, assisting with logon issues, password resets, and applications; escalate when needed.
• Provide Tier 1 technical support to students, faculty and staff via phone, email and chat; perform basic software installation and OS updates.
• Troubleshoot issues related to desktops, printers, phones, online services and other IT systems.
• Assist in onboarding by coordinating computer access for new employees.
• Support asset management, patching tasks, and security configurations; provide in-person and remote help to staff and students.
• Document support requests and resolutions using ticketing systems.
• Create and maintain training documents for software applications.
• Maintain classroom and employee computers and cable management.
• Analyze IT processes to improve efficiency and service delivery.
• Foster collaboration across departments to support teaching, learning and administration.
