Job summary

Lumos Fiber is seeking an IT Jr. Engineer – Support Technician to act as a go‑to problem solver across locations. You’ll provide hands‑on and remote support for PCs, printers, phones, and peripherals, manage proprietary systems, and serve as the first contact for technical issues.

You’ll participate in rotating on‑call, assist with training, equipment setups, and projects while mentoring teammates to keep Lumos connected and productive all year long.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• 2+ years working as an IT Technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft networking and familiarity with Cisco networking.
• Experience working in a .NET environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Logical hardware and software troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficiency in IP phone systems, iOS and Android devices.
• LAN/WAN troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide on‑site technical support, including resolving tickets and relocating hardware.
• Deliver new PCs and equipment to remote locations, including travel.
• Build or rebuild PCs, install hardware/software, and test compatibility.
• Install and configure hardware/software and provide end‑user training.
• Respond to support calls, troubleshoot, and escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve compatibility or performance issues.
• Coordinate with repair vendors for servicing and replacement.
• Provide technical guidance and field leadership to PC Technicians.
• Maintain and manage user accounts, including password resets and security.
• Enforce security policies and coordinate with HR on policy matters.
• Oversee day‑to‑day IT operations outside the Data Center.
• Manage project timelines and approve exceptions with management.
• Control system access, monitor inventory, and handle escalations.
