Job summary

University of Maryland College Park is seeking an IT Desktop Support Coordinator Lead to join the Platform Services team. You will lead desktop endpoint management for Windows and Mac, deploying and securing endpoints in hybrid and cloud environments, and automating management tasks.

The role requires strong leadership, project oversight, and excellent communication as you collaborate across IT teams to deploy applications, manage patches, and ensure secure operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven years of professional experience supporting IT infrastructure operations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the capability of adapting communication style to different audiences.
• Ability to independently prioritize and execute advanced IT support.
• Skilled in overseeing IT projects and associated team members with a primary focus on execution and delivery of technical initiatives.
• Ability to lead presentations and training with large groups.
• Proven track record of quickly learning new technologies.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service and stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage workload and deliver on time.
• Proficiency with Office 365 or Google Workspaces.
• Subject matter expert in at least two technical areas.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, integrate, configure, and secure Microsoft Windows Desktop and Mac operating systems in Active Directory, standalone, and hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud-based).
• Manage and maintain Mac operating systems, including JAMF and Mac scripting for configuration and management.
• Automate desktop management processes using programming and scripting languages.
• Plan, develop, and implement system enhancements, including deployment of new applications and services.
• Manage patch updates and create deployment packages, including scripting and automation.
• Utilize MacOS, JAMF, VDI, scripting, BitLocker, Azure, InTune, Office 365, OMS, and AWS to optimize performance and security.
• Provide conference room technology support including AV equipment and projectors.
• Test, plan, and supervise deployment of OS releases and patches.
• Remediate security vulnerabilities in managed endpoints.
• Work within ServiceNow incident management and SLA timelines.
