Job summary

City of Duluth in Minnesota is seeking a Support Analyst to maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, mobile devices, peripherals and software. This role installs, diagnoses, repairs and upgrades hardware and software to ensure optimal workstation performance.

The position supports long-term computing strategies, new technology projects, business continuity planning and procurement research, while collaborating with IT teams to keep the desktop environment running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Completion of an IT-related degree and one year of verifiable work experience in installation, support and troubleshooting of PCs, networks and peripherals.
• Or a combination of education, certification and/or experience totaling three years demonstrating the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Strong hardware, software, and peripheral troubleshooting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing long-term computing strategies and planning.
• Support development and implementation of new technology projects and installations.
• Aid in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Research PC hardware and software for procurement and development efforts.
• Coordinate upgrades, repairs, and PC equipment improvements.
• Assist in software acquisition and license tracking.
• Perform onsite diagnostics and resolution for end users.
• Collaborate with system, application and network admins to keep the desktop environment running smoothly.
• Prepare and maintain desktop operation procedures and logs.
• Maintain inventory of desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and other equipment.
• Provide end-user training and create usage guides and FAQs.
• Schedule and perform hardware/software upgrades and reconfigurations as needed.
