Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine, CA is seeking an Admissions Scheduler for Interventional Radiology to arrange procedure dates, verify demographics and funding, and prepare needed paperwork.

You will coordinate with physicians, staff, and the anesthesia team, provide wait-time estimates, and input data into the SMS system, acting as a liaison across admissions and IR. The role requires accuracy, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple schedules in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.
• Experience with computer software programs such as MS Office, Signature, TDS.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of registration, third party payers, government funded programs, and managed care.
• Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for Interventional Radiology procedures.
• Assure all necessary paperwork is completed and forwarded to appropriate departments.
• Determine that funding covers proposed surgery/procedure; check expiration dates.
• Coordinate procedure date/time based on physician, staff, room and anesthesiologist availability.
• Communicate with patients to obtain demographic and financial data.
• Provide accurate wait time estimates when available.
• Act as liaison between admissions, other departments and IR.
• Input demographic and financial data into the SMS system.
