Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an organized Admissions Specialist to schedule Interventional Radiology procedures, ensuring all paperwork is complete and patient data is accurate.

You will coordinate dates with physicians, staff, rooms and anesthesia, communicate wait times, and act as a liaison between admissions, departments and IR to keep schedules on track.

The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT codes, and experience in a hospital or medical office setting.

Qualifications

• General understanding of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.
• Experience with MS Office, Signature, TDS.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of registration, third party payers, government funded programs, and managed care.
• Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures and ensure paperwork is complete.
• Determine funding coverage and inquire about expiration dates associated with proposed procedures.
• Coordinate procedure dates/times based on physician, staff, room and anesthesia availability.
• Communicate with patients to obtain demographic and financial data and provide wait times when available.
• Serve as liaison between admissions, other departments and IR and update accordingly.
• Input demographic and financial data into the SMS System following standard flows and codes.
