Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC is seeking a Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property - Patents Practice on a hybrid basis, with multiple locations including New York. The role focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in emerging technology areas, working with inventors and attorneys.

The successful candidate will have a science/engineering background (EE/CE/CS/Physics) and 2+ years of experience, plus strong writing and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CE, CS, or Physics with excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, ML/AI, wireless, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
