COMPANY NAME: AmLaw 50 law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. This HYBRID role involves collaborating with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.

Candidates should have 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in fields like electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or physics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Physics with excellent academic record.
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics or related fields is highly advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to technical detail.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
