Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Legal Engineer – Intellectual Property to bridge the IP practice with tech, AI, and automation capabilities. You will translate attorney needs into actionable requirements for AI Labs, validate solutions, and drive attorney adoption.

This attorney-facing role sits in Practice Intelligence and collaborates with IP attorneys, patent agents, and support staff to shape the department's service model.

Qualifications

• Translate attorney needs into clear tech requirements.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and consulting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; explain tech to non-tech.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365; familiarity with Power Automate and ServiceNow.
• Experience in legal tech, knowledge management, or legal research.

Responsibilities

• Embed with IP practice group across offices; build relationships.
• Serve as liaison between IP practice and AI Labs; draft requirements.
• Deliver training on firm tools; run adoption campaigns.
• Provide client-facing training on firm tools and portals.
• Perform prior art, patentability, and portfolio research as needed.
• Configure and maintain practice workflows and automations.
• Track adoption, utilization, and satisfaction metrics.
