Job summary

Troutman Pepper Locke LLP seeks an IP Docket Specialist to manage and quality‑check all US and Non‑US patent docketing, collaborating with the IP Docket Manager to train staff and implement procedures.

The role maintains docket portfolios, handles confidential client information, and ensures timely, accurate filings with USPTO and other agencies, supporting attorneys and staff across the IP team. Experience with docket software and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with IP docket experience.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive Intellectual Property experience in docketing quality control.
• Experience with docket software applications.
• Experience with and strong understanding of domestic/foreign patent matters.

Responsibilities

• Quality control reviews of all US and Non-US patent docketing entries.
• Assist in creating and implementing new training materials.
• Support development of docketing policies to mitigate risk.
• Manage data quality from transferring portfolios and support attorney teams.
• Provide back-up for Docketing Specialists per SOPs.
• Address docket-related inquiries for the IP team.
• Ensure docket database accuracy; generate reports.
• Collaborate with Docketing Specialists to achieve IP group goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of docket operations and clients.
• Ensure accuracy of docketing documents received from USPTO and other agencies.
• Provide detailed information to IP attorneys and staff regarding client data and deadlines.
