Job summary

Syntec Optics, Inc. is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist in Rochester, NY to monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels, control stock movements, and ensure material availability while minimizing shortages, excess stock, and discrepancies.

You will track stock, counts, discrepancies, and documentation to support efficient operations. The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor’s in a related field, experience in inventory control and ERP/WMS systems, and strong Excel skills with attention

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience in inventory control, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Solid understanding of FIFO, cycle counting, stock reconciliation, min/max inventory and kanban principles.

Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP or inventory management system.
Track incoming, outgoing, transferred, and returned stock.
Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock counts.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Ensure stock movements are properly documented and recorded.
Identify slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, or excess inventory.
Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, production, sales, and finance teams.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.
Verify receiving and issuing transactions against relevant documents.
Maintain accurate item codes, descriptions, units of measure, and storage locations.
Support inventory audits and provide required documentation.
Recommend improvements to inventory-control procedures.
Monitor inventory KPIs such as stock accuracy, inventory turnover, stock-outs, and excess inventory.
