Job summary

The Inventory Control Manager at Goodfellow Corporation will oversee accuracy and optimization of roughly $40 million in inventory across six branch warehouses in the southwestern region. You will lead cycle counting, physical inventories, and cross-functional efforts with Purchasing, Parts, Service, Sales, and Finance to reduce excess, obsolescence, and working-capital tied up in inventory.

Qualifications

  • Experience in inventory control, management, or related field.
  • Experience across multiple warehouses or locations.
  • Knowledge of cycle counting, physical inventory, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with inventory planning, replenishment, reorder points, and optimization.
  • ERP experience; NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ownership of inventory accuracy and integrity across all branch warehouse locations.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee standardized cycle-counting programs.
  • Monitor cycle-count results and ensure discrepancies are researched and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish consistent inventory-control procedures across branch locations.
  • Support and coordinate annual physical inventories.
  • Conduct branch inventory reviews and audits as needed.
  • Ensure inventory transactions, adjustments, transfers, and other movements are accurately recorded within company systems.
  • Establish, review, and maintain reorder points, safety stock levels, and other inventory-planning parameters within NetSuite.
  • Analyze historical demand, usage, lead times, sales activity, service requirements, and other factors to determine appropriate stocking levels.
  • Partner with Sales, Service, Parts, and Purchasing to identify current and anticipated inventory requirements.
  • Monitor inventory availability and develop strategies to reduce stockouts.
  • Identify excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Balance product availability with inventory investment and working-capital objectives.
  • Assist in developing inventory strategies by branch, product category, customer demand, and operational requirements.
  • Develop, monitor, and report key inventory performance indicators, including: Inventory accuracy, Inventory turns, Fill rate, Stockouts, Excess and obsolete inventory, Slow-moving inventory, Cycle-count performance.
  • Analyze inventory trends and provide recommendations to Supply Chain leadership.
  • Partner with the Data Analyst to improve inventory reporting, visibility, and analysis.
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of inventory and pricing information.
  • Provide management with regular updates regarding inventory performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to improve replenishment strategies and product availability.
  • Partner with warehouse teams to ensure proper receiving, storage, movement, and inventory-control practices.
  • Collaborate with Finance to support accurate inventory valuation, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Work with Parts, Service, and Sales teams to understand customer demand and operational requirements.
  • Develop and communicate inventory-control standards and expectations across the organization.
  • Train and support branch personnel on inventory processes, procedures, systems, and best practices.
  • Build strong working relationships with branch leadership and employees to promote accountability for inventory accuracy.
  • Evaluate current inventory processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain inventory-related standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve the use of NetSuite and other inventory-management tools.
  • Lead inventory-related process improvement initiatives across multiple locations.
  • Recommend changes to processes, systems, stocking strategies, and controls based on data and operational needs.
