Job summary

Valley Health System in Paramus, NJ, seeks an experienced Radiologic Technologist for a high-volume EP Lab focusing on cardiac ablations, device implants, and structural heart procedures. You will perform radiologic tests and support a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting.

Two years of radiologic technology training with NJ X-ray Board certification and ARRT preferred, plus CPR and strong communication skills, are required. Opportunity for growth in a hospital-based environment.

Qualifications

  • NJ X-ray Technician Board of Examiners certification required and ARRT certification preferred.
  • CPR certification and unit-based orientation.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and risk factors.
  • Ability to operate sensitive radiology equipment and perform tests.
  • Strong interactive and communication skills; ability to work under stress.

Responsibilities

  • Provide radiologic procedures in a high-volume EP Lab.
  • Assist with cardiac ablations, pacemaker/ICD implants, and LAAO-related work.
  • Operate radiologic equipment safely in a hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with scrub tech, circulating RN/RT, and RN as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support clerical and patient-care tasks as needed in EP procedures.

Job description

Position Summary

To provide for the needs of patients of varying ages, their family, and physicians. To perform a variety of patient care tasks and procedures in accordance with licensure, certification, and regulatory requirements. Working in an environment with the application of ionizing radiation for cardiac, neuro, and vascular procedures.

A high-volume Electrophysiology (EP) Lab specializing in cardiac ablations, device implants, and structural heart procedures. The lab performs advanced, invasive catheter-based procedures under fluoroscopic guidance, serving as the “electricians of the heart”

Procedures include:

Cardiac ablations

Implantation of permanent pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)

Structural heart procedures, including Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO), with Watchman and Amplatzer Amulet implants performed twice monthly

All procedures are conducted in a hospital-based environment.

Technologists practice at the top of their licensure, with comprehensive on-the-job training alongside an experienced preceptor to build competence and confidence.

Additional educational opportunities include:

Basic Arrhythmia Recognition (BAR) education

ACLS certification

A 12-month computer-based learning program through Chart Health Academy

Care delivery is supported by a strong, structured team approach, including:

Scrub Technician (RT)

Circulating RN or RT

Registered Nurse (RN)

This collaborative model ensures high-quality patient care and procedural efficiency.

Education

Two years of formal radiologic technology training in a school approved by the Council on Education of the American Medical Association, successful completion of the Association’s examination and/or formal training in Cardiovascular Technology.

Experience

Previous practical experience as a staff Radiologic Technologist and/or Cardiovascular Technician experience.

Skills

Certification from the State of New Jersey X-ray Technician Board of Examiners required and ARRT certification preferred, CPR certification and unit based orientation. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and risk factors. Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment to produce recordings and to perform tests on patients requiring placement of equipment in sensitive areas. Demonstrates effective interactive and communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and a changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic and complex disease processes and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively within the healthcare system, with patients and family members and with multidisciplinary team members (i.e. physicians, Respiratory, DI, LAB, etc.). Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills to effectively problem-solve and deliver care.
